Weekend joy

I, dear readers, had another great weekend in the company of my good lady. We had a nice meal on Saturday and went for a walk in the woods on Sunday. Well, the latest is: there is no latest news. My contact who seemed to want to enter into some kind of venture using my poetry is silent as the proverbial grave. I have tried to contact him but alas 'twas to no avail. So, it begs the question whether he was serious to begin with, all things considered. Oh well..

Poetry project

I have been negotiating with someone who is looking for content to add to a software application. He seemed interested in my poems so I sent off two files and came up with two titles. I think my poetry is good enough to warrant someone doing something with it. We will see what will happen.
It is nice to be working on a poetry project again for a change. I'm all for it!

A great vacation

Let me just say right off the mark that, all things considered, I am a bit of a big fan of life in general. Of course, like anyone else I do have my off days as well, but in general I do enjoy my life as it is with all its ups and downs. So, there you have it. And yet I can say that some things make me smile more than others. For instance, a nice meal with a fine wine and some great company is one.

Life and such

Life is pretty darn good at the mo. I have to admit that all in all I am pretty happy right now. I have some gainful employment, a girlfriend, friends and family and to top it all off my doctor said that my cholesterol levels are spot on. So, I'm going to make the most of it and just enjoy myself for a while. As Paul McCartney said: What's the use in worrying? And I agree with him there. So, there.

Ashes

On Thursday the third test of the Ashes series will commence. Can't wait. It's strange but I find listening to the commentary in the background very soothing and comforting. I don't really understand the game but it fascinates me that both Aussies and the English are so keen on the Ashes. It really is quite something. And you have to admire a game where the athletes stop for lunch and drinks and what not. Where's Warne when you need him?

Poetry or prose

I'm currently working on a novel and so far it is going quite well. I still look back fondly to my poetry writing days as well but I want to forge ahead with this big prose project. What I would really like is to develop a prose style that is quite poetical in its tone and feel. Some of my favourite novelists are able to pen a sentence that just flows on in an eminently aesthetic manner. I'll just keep working on it and see if I can develop my 'voice'..

Last night I watched Letterman and he had Howard Stern on. He was quite entertaining and affable and made for a good guest. Certainly better than the previous show when famous airhead Paris Hilton was the main guest. That was just annoying and slightly embarrassing. And yet I gather that some men find her attractive. Quite honestly, she repulses me somewhat.

Pub

Spent a great night down the pub with some good friends of mine. It was someone’s birthday and this someone also introduced her new fellow to us. A nice bloke who seemed to cope well with all the attention lavished on him as the proverbial newcomer. A fun and raucous night followed and a great time was held by all. So there.
